Denotation:This double page spread is from black and gold January 2009 magazine, and Eva Mendes is being interviewed, there are three images of her, one on the left a full big close up image of her then two small ones in the corner, moreover there is two columns within the double spreaded page one of an introduction and the second other interview. The writing within the magazine is a fair amount and not cluttered together.
Main Image;
The main image of Eva Mendes is the one of her on the page by herself gripping onto her tie; the image is Big Close up where we can see ever detail of her face whereas her hair and shoulder cut off the image. The image she is in blends in with the background which is a white plain back ground and matchers her shirt which is a slightly darker white than the background. However in the image she is grabbing her tie seductively it is in a low angle shot therefore the person taking the camera was slightly leaning to floor and she lifted up her head a bit to make it more effective and connotes that she maybe powerful and feisty, the props such as the ring has also an effective on the picture because she her hand was plain it wouldn’t have a good effective that it has now.
Target Market:
This magazine seems like it aimed at females around 18 +, younger audience would not be interested in Eva Mendez because she is much older than them, and would not be her audience, 18+ seems like a good target audience because she is an actress and maybe a few of her target audience would like to be like her and maybe they are inspired in what she does and want to know more information about her by reading the interview.
Language:
The type of double page spread this is, is a Question and answer page and you can tell the difference because after each question there is a question mark and her answer is smaller and is in italic which is a big difference from the question because the question is also bigger than the answer. The questions are bigger because this helps the audience know what they are talking about in the magazine and the questions maybe interesting and the target audience may always wanted to know her answer to the question so it attracts them to find out, also the language used within the interview is normal simple English that everybody is able to understand and it is more informal because it is an interview and it is her opinion.
There is a quote and the quotation marks have been put in bold and big to emphasis on what she has said and it may be important, it also attracts the audience to read on what she has said, so when they turn the page they see that she has made a comment that may be interesting and in order to find out about it they have to read on.
Moreover the handwriting that is used is serif fonts has small flick ups and connotes tradition her name is the biggest font on the page and takes the widely held of space and stands out clearly on who the page is talking about, however before they start a sentence they have used the letter G as the drop capital which helps the reader know where to start writing first.
